Birthday Week Celebration

September 14, 2012

A friend of ours did an awesome thing on her birthday week this year.  She celebrated it for a week and every day did something for friends/coworkers/family, etc.  She had so much fun with it that I decided to do it this year.  I started yesterday by taking flowers and a card to a good friend at her work.  She loved it, but I got more enjoyment out of it than she did.  Also, God surprised me when I delivered them with some old friends that I hadn’t seen in a while.  A couple with their new granddaughter.  So I got to visit with them as well.

The next thing that I wanted to do was take my sweetheart of a husband out on the town and stay at a really nice hotel.  I wanted a 3+ star hotel so I checked it out and it was $169 per night (in Oklahoma that is a nice hotel).  Anyway, I decided to try and I was able to get the hotel for $50! Wow!!!!  So, you can say that I SAVED my hubby $119.    :0)

Next I have a family get-together on Sunday with the best chef in Norman cooking, my Mother-In-Law.  I can’t wait!  This next week, I have a Girls Night Out planned with some neighborhood friends of mine AND there will be other stuff.  I am having a blast!

I’m a Chronic Illness Warrior!!

September 12, 2012

Living a life of chronic illness can be really draining and it steals a lot of our lives.  I try to stay positive and push myself to do as much as I can.  Somedays my body just feels like staying in bed.  I feel like I have the flu, with fatigue, and severe pain.  I try to get up and do something – ANYTHING – to get out of bed.  I find this gives me a little energy, makes me feel better mentally, and I can help around the house as well.  Sometimes I water my flowers, sometimes “play in my flowerbed”, do a little housework, visit my Mother-in-Law, or have lunch with a friend.  I haven’t been able to get out and shop recently due to my back and hip issues, so I feel a little home bound.  Let’s pray that we all have less pain and extra energy!!  Blessings!

Killing Snakes with a Steak Knife while doing the Splits

September 6, 2012

You may see me in the next Olympics.  Today while watering ours and the neighbors curb (since the city recently did some work and just put down sod)…. I stepped one foot by their mailbox to smash down the sod and had one foot in the street.  The spot that I stepped in the street had a little mud and I suddenly did the splits.  Not all the way down like I did last year in my kitchen, since I quickly grabbed the mailbox.  You know I didn’t want the neighbors to be jealous of me being able to do the splits.  🙂
After that I moved the tree ring from around one of our little trees so I could cut a few weeds…… there were two S-N-A-K-E-S staring up at me with their beady little eyes.  I was using a steak knife to cut the weeds like a friend showed me since it is a lot easier, so I cut their heads off and put them in the trash. I have ALWAYS been terrified of any snake so I have no idea why I used the knife instead of getting a hoe.  To me snakes are ALL poisonous!!  You know one of those “CopperHeadedWaterRattlers”.  :0)  I think the steroid shot that I got the previous day must have given me a little too much energy – maybe even a super power.  🙂
I was thinking today that I may combine 2 of my talents and they could have a new event in the Olympics  …… “Killing Snakes with a Steak Knife while doing the Splits”.  What do you think?
